Now Hiring Part Time School Bus Drivers for Greater Chicago, IL School Districts

As a First Student Part Time School Bus Driver you will play a vital role in your community and the lives of the students you transport. You will be there at the start of the students' day with before-school pickup and at the end with an afternoon shift to bring students safely back home.

No experience as a bus driver is required! We're proud to train you with our industry-leading technology to help you succeed.

Your day will include:

• A split shift, which means an early morning before-school pickup and an after-school drop-off with a few free hours in between
• A guaranteed shift of 4-6 hours per school day depending on location, no working nights or weekends unless you want to
• Additional hours gained through trips and charters when available

School Bus Driver benefits:

• $23 / hour- $30 / hour starting wage, based on school bus driver experience and location. Training rate at state minimum wage.
• $5,000 sign on bonus for fully licensed drivers if training is completed within 5 days*
• $3,000 sign on bonus for fully licensed drivers if training is completed in more than 5 days**

Coming from another School Bus Transportation organization?

Apply by 9/30/25 and we will honor your current rate of pay based on experience. Union locations will base seniority on application submission date.

Great School Bus Drivers often bring skills such as:

• Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (or willingness to obtain)
• Clean driving record
