Licensed Practical Nurse - Specialty Care

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide essential direct patient care, addressing both psychological and physical needs in adherence to established plans of care, physician's orders, and nursing policies. You will care for patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics, in various settings including inpatient care, ambulatory care, home health, or hospice.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain individualized, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with other health professionals to ensure the needs of patients and caregivers are met.
2. Observe, assess, document, and report patient responses to treatments and therapies, adjusting priorities of care based on patient needs. Collect and communicate data regarding patients’ biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
3. Engage in team enrichment activities that contribute to positive health outcomes, including participation in committees and training of new personnel.
4. Administer a wide range of treatments and therapies, including respiratory treatments, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, and various patient care procedures. Provide education based on established teaching plans.
5. Support patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge processes, ensuring a smooth transition through the healthcare experience.
6. Assist in managing patient emotions, employing de-escalation techniques for frightened or potentially aggressive patients, and facilitating age-appropriate coping strategies.

Additional Information:

Education Requirements: Graduation from a state-accredited practical nursing program is required.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Must hold a license to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in North Carolina and possess a valid BLS certification.

Professional Experience Requirements: A minimum of two years of experience as an LPN is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong communication, patient care, and critical thinking skills are essential.
