Position Summary: Manages the reprocessing cycle for surgical instrumentation, including disassembly, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, testing, assembly, packaging, labeling, high level disinfection, and sterilization. Cares for and operates ultrasonic cleaners, washers, sterilizers, and other equipment. Completes quality monitoring and documentation. Picks supplies and instruments to prepare case carts for surgery. Performs quality assurance activities. Is responsible for supply inventory management and clinic instrument rounds. Is responsible for mentoring, training, coaching, and role modeling of new Sterile Processing Techs. Serves a leader for the department to promote teamwork within the department and with other departments.

License/Certification:

Maintains currency with three SPD certifications (CRCST, CHL, CIS through IAHCSMM) or (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution CSPDT, Certified in Sterile Processing Management CSPM, Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist CSIS through CBSPD). Note: Certification must be maintained as a term of employment.

Experience:

Three years minimum in Sterile Processing.

Technical Skills:

Due to the highly technical nature, especially related to interpretation of manufacturer's Instructions For Use (IFU), ALL SPD staff must be proficient in spoken and written English. Manual dexterity with the ability to assemble and disassemble complex instrumentation.
