Our expected salary range for this role is $144,900 to $161,000, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring bonuses and 401(k).
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
This role involves advanced engineering problem-solving to support our power plants. The Lead Principal Engineer is responsible for making critical technical decisions and possesses extensive knowledge in relevant disciplines, as well as an excellent grasp of applicable industry regulations and codes. This position functions with industry-recognized expertise in specialized technical areas.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Deliver in-depth technical expertise to develop, execute, and manage engineering activities related to plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, regulatory obligations, and corporate policies.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work, maintaining proper configuration management and adhering to standard design criteria, practices, and codes in the preparation of plans and specifications.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance through direct involvement to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and system issues.
- Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of technical projects.
- Manage engineering tasks effectively, assuming responsibility for engineering issue resolution.
- Recommend innovative equipment solutions, new concepts, and techniques to enhance performance, streamline construction, reduce costs, rectify design or material flaws, or adapt to changes in codes or regulations.
- Support plant design modifications, testing, and systematic problem-solving.
- Ensure that all engineering products produced or overseen are consistent with relevant safety analyses, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and coordinate functional supervisory activities, including personnel management, budget accountability, and strategic planning for engineering teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of exceptional professional experience. Approval from the VP of Engineering is required to secure this classification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Solid performance rating for at least the last 2 years in one of the following areas:
- Process engineering experience in the Natural Gas industry.
- Expertise in rotating equipment such as piping design, pumps, compressors, generators, and natural gas processing, including cryogenics.
- Recognized as a fleet or industry expert in a particular knowledge or skill area.
- Registered structural or professional engineer.
Additionally, one of the following:
- Experience in site or corporate leadership (such as leading HITs, managing outages or online work, or serving as a troubleshooting lead).
- Cross-departmental experience.
