Lead Network Engineer

Description

We are on the lookout for a skilled Lead Network Engineer with extensive experience in Aruba networking to support our esteemed federal government client. This position involves using Aruba core and access switches to design and implement a comprehensive wireless solution across designated floors. Candidates should possess robust knowledge of Aruba networking technologies (including ClearPass, wireless controllers, switches) along with familiarity in Granite SDWAN and Zscaler. A current Public Trust clearance and prior experience with federal government contracts are mandatory.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Aruba 6400/6300 Implementation & Migration
   • Phase 1: Successfully deploy and configure Aruba 6400 core switches including VSX, VLAN routing, and trunk links to Cisco Nexus 7Ks.
   • Phase 2: Implement Aruba 6300M switches for a fully wireless environment, scaling deployment across all floors while configuring VLANs, default routes to Granite SDWAN, and ensuring redundancy and proper routing.
2. Aruba Solution Design & ClearPass
   • Architect and deploy Aruba network solutions such as Mobility Controllers and Access Points, while managing ClearPass for access control and network security.
   • Optimize wireless network performance by ensuring secure 802.1X authentication and effective PoE configurations.
3. SD-WAN Integration (Granite)
   • Collaborate closely with teams to incorporate Granite SDWAN solutions that ensure resilient connectivity and manage WAN circuit upgrades.
4. Zscaler Configuration
   • Deploy and maintain Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) to facilitate secure internet and SaaS access.
5. Network Security & Compliance
   • Ensure adherence to federal security standards and maintain documentation as per Public Trust guidelines while implementing zero-trust security principles.
6. Testing & Troubleshooting
   • Conduct thorough testing and validation of network configurations and troubleshoot complex network issues to ensure operational stability.
7. Performance Optimization & Automation
   • Monitor network performance, engage in capacity planning, and streamline operations through the automation of routine tasks using scripting tools.
8. Technical Documentation & Stakeholder Collaboration
   • Create and maintain detailed documentation of network architectures, and engage regularly with internal and external stakeholders for project updates and communication.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in configuring and optimizing BGP.
• Proficient in managing firewalls and load balancers.
• Strong network administration and engineering skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in diverse network environments.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware configuration and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications

• Active Public Trust clearance.
• A minimum of 3 years working with federal government contracts.
• Proficient in Aruba solutions deployment and management.
• BS degree in a related field with 8-12 years of experience or equivalent qualifications.
• Exceptional communication skills with a knack for clear documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Aruba and networking certifications.
• Experience with cloud security products and zero-trust architectures.
• Automation skills with scripting tools.
• Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks.
