Job Title: Lead Medical Technologist

Department: MH Laboratory

Location: Massena Hospital

Hours Per Week: Full time, 40 scheduled weekly hours

Schedule: Rotating 8 hour variable shift: 7-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a, weekend rotation

SUMMARY: Join our dedicated medical team as a Lead Medical Technologist, where you will play a crucial role in performing clinical laboratory analyses on blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues using advanced instruments and methods. You will ensure timely, accurate results to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment while adhering to regulatory standards. Your expertise in solving complex clinical and instrument problems will help provide exceptional laboratory services. Additionally, you may supervise weekend and holiday coverage as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform testing accurately and in a timely manner.
• Interpret and correlate clinical test results with patient histories and conditions.
• Communicate critical lab results and resolve any instrument malfunctions that might delay testing.
• Conduct quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshoot instruments.
• Prepare reagents and maintain inventory of lab supplies.
• Oversee and train new and existing employees in procedures and instrumentation.
• Assist in teaching and supporting the School of Medical Technology.
• Engage in research and development of new technologies.
• Additional duties as requested by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Medical Technology or a related science, with relevant experience recognized by New York State Department of Education for Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure.

Required Certification/Licensure:

• New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• A valid NYS driver's license if travel is required.

Experience:

• 4+ years of relevant Medical Technology Laboratory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
• Previous experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory.
• Laboratory supervisory or leadership experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work - Requires exertion of 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, with frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

Pay Range: $41.00 - $45.50

This base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant and may be modified in the future.
