Job Description

As a Lead Engineer - Aerodynamics, you will be focused on developing prediction methods and technologies to improve aerodynamic, aero-acoustic, aero-mechanical, and thermal performance for various GE Aerospace products. You will perform research and development for the next generation of aircraft engine and aerospace technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will work in a team that performs research and development of aerodynamic technologies for both traditional turbomachinery and non-traditional turbomachinery products. In this role you will:

  Independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary project team lead and execute tasks to develop technologies for next generation aircraft engines.

  Lead and participate in high fidelity computational analyses to guide design improvements in the fields of aerodynamics, aero-mechanics and aero-acoustics. You may use both proprietary and commercial CFD and multiphysics solvers.

  Develop ideas and concepts to improve aerodynamic, aero-mechanical and aero-acoustic performance and operability of turbomachinery components.

  Patent your inventions and develop a record of publication via conferences and peer reviewed journals.

• n

  Lead and participate in validation & verification efforts to advance computational methodologies and/or to demonstrate new technologies. This may require working with experimentalists to ensure high quality data acquisition.

  Prepare and participate in project and technical reviews. Deliver presentations, reports, and publications to GE Aerospace Research and Engineering staff as well as external agencies.

  Provide expertise to help resolve technical challenges across the organization.

Qualifications/Requirements:

n
• n

  Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant experience.

  n

• n

  Experience and knowledge of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Experience in meshing & using engineering simulation/analysis tools (such as CFX, Fluent and ANSYS) to model flows in aircraft engine components.

  Ability to investigate, model and provide critical insight into complex physical flow phenomena.

  n

• n

  Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

  n

• n

  Good communication skills and ability to interface with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence. Previous experience leading and managing projects, stakeholders and funding is a plus.

The base pay range for this position is $90,000 - $175,000 USD annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on September 1st, 2025.
