Laboratory Technician LEAD

JOB SUMMARY

Location: BSWH BUMC Downtown Dallas TX

Department: Laboratory

Shift: FT variable, must be able to work flexible shifts with weekend rotation

Preferred Experience: Must be able to assist with bone marrow collections. Must have at least 2 years of experience in client services, processing, and referrals.

The Lab Tech 3 performs phlebotomy, processing, testing, and provides clerical support. Collection of other specimens as needed. Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and other personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

• Conducts advanced laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
• Sorts, labels, and records patient specimens. Sets up specimen, material, and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform tests.
• Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer, and other laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
