Laboratory Technician (Biology) - #Staff

The Farber Lab in the Department of Biology is looking for a Laboratory Technician who will be performing routine laboratory processes and following routine protocols under close supervision.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate standard equipment.

• Use standard procedures for specific laboratory tests and preparation techniques.

• Assist with laboratory maintenance, prepare solutions, and order supplies.

• Identify and report problems in the completion of routine lab processes.

• Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above

• Provide fish room backup coverage.

• Assist in maintaining all Farber common fish stocks.

• Assist Lab Coordinator as needed.

• Design and perform experiments under the mentorship of senior lab staff/personnel.

• Keep detailed records of all experiments.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or graduation equivalent.

• Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

• Some science coursework and/or a training certificate from a technical institute.
