Job Posting: Lab Processing Tech III

BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full-Time Lab Processing Tech III at Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) - Surgical Pathology Dept. Position Details:

Day Shift Hours: Flexible 8 or 10 hours (7am - 5:30pm) No weekends or holidays!

Responsibilities include:

• Accessioning pathology office sendouts
• Specimen management OR pickups
• Some equipment maintenance and management
• Communications with Physicians, nurses, sacs, Pathologists is a daily occurrence

General Lab Processing & Customer Service Dept (Send-outs) In-Office position (non-remote) This position does not perform phlebotomy

Experience: Strong Lab experience (preferred) Pathology experience preferred Excellent communication skills and customer service abilities especially in a call center or phone environment. Proficient in various computer systems and comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced setting

Preferred Qualifications:

Role Purpose:

Performs a variety of pre analytic analytic and post analytic laboratory duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Performs waived and moderate complex testing with appropriate training and competency sweat chloride collections EKGs etc.
• Under supervision reports test results as appropriate.
• Sorts and processes routine and specific high level specimens received by the lab--including multistep technical processing (i.e. Histology Microbiology Cytology etc.). Ensures correct processing and packaging for esoteric send out tests.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Inventory management equipment cleaning maintenance loading etc.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: 2-5 years

Supervisor Experience: No Experience

Preferred Requirements:

• Education: Associate's Degree
• Licenses & Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Phlebotomy
