Lab Technician

We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our team, focusing on chlorine monitoring, salt stockpile grading, and chemical analysis. This role involves maintaining a clean workspace and collaborating with other lab technicians during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor chlorine levels and conduct daily grading of salt stockpiles.
• Perform data entry and chemical analysis using wet chemistry techniques.
• Mix chemical solutions accurately to ensure purity.
• Maintain quality control by inspecting products and pulling samples for testing.
• Prepare chemical solutions following specific formulas and test daily samples.
• Document all procedures accurately on paper and electronically, ensuring traceability of completed tasks.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in wet chemistry and chemical analysis.
• Experience in quality assurance, quality control, and lab testing.
• Ability to conduct titration and lab analysis.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a laboratory setting, excluding medical laboratories.
• Capability to lift approximately 40 lbs daily.
• Quick learning ability and strong soft skills.

Work Environment

The position is based in a salt mine environment, which is humid, dirty, and physically demanding. It requires the ability to go up and down several flights of stairs while carrying bags of salt. Once trained, technicians will work independently. Training will last up to 4 weeks, depending on the individual's learning pace, and the schedule is from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with every other Saturday required. Initially, the dress code includes jeans, steel-toe boots, and a t-shirt (no short sleeves), with uniforms provided a few weeks after starting. The biggest challenge is working alone post-training and transporting samples from a satellite building.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
