Lab Pathology Supervisor

Pathology Lab Supervisor St. Francis Downtown

The Pathology Lab Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of the laboratory operations of all histology and cytology functions. The Pathology Lab Supervisor assists the leadership team with operational and administrative functions that facilitates excellent patient care, maintains laboratory functions, and ensures policies and procedures are completed by making compliance a key priority.

Essential Functions:

• Hires and assist with onboarding top talent to create a work environment of diversity, professional growth, and continuous development
• Evaluates the competency of all testing personnel and assuring that the staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently
• Ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly
• Participates in committees, task forces, and improvement teams as defined
• Ensures all changes within the laboratory are sufficiently validated before implementation
• Other duties as assigned

Education:

• Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Microbiology (required)

Certifications:

Must possess one of the following (by a nationally recognized certification agency, preferably ASCP):

• HT Histotechnician Certification
• HTL Histotechnologist Certification
• CT Cytotechnologist Certification
• PA Pathologist Assistant Certification

Experience:

• 5 years of experience in a pathology laboratory setting (required)
• Previous experience in a leadership position in a pathology lab environment (preferred, not required)

Skills & Abilities:

• Demonstrates leadership competencies and skills for the position, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, and decision making
• Possesses extensive knowledge of clinical practice or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment
