Chronic Registered Nurse (RN)

Purpose & Scope: As a Chronic RN, you'll be responsible for delivering and coordinating clinically competent care for patients undergoing hemodialysis. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care, while also mentoring and guiding other care staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and document treatment plans
• Administer medications and respond to emergencies
• Educate patients and families on treatment options
• Lead and support Patient Care Technicians and other nursing staff
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current RN license in the state of VA
• CPR BLS Certification
• Minimum 1 year of nephrology nursing experience (within last 2 years)
• At least 3 months of chronic/acute hemodialysis experience

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift/move patients and equipment (up to 200 lbs with assistance)
• Standing and bending for prolonged periods
• Exposure to infectious materials and hospital environment

Patient Care Technician (PCT)

Purpose & Scope: As a PCT, you'll provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You'll play a vital role in monitoring dialysis treatments, documenting patient data, and responding to emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with pre- and post-dialysis assessments
• Monitor and document treatment parameters
• Support emergency procedures and initiate CPR if needed
• Communicate changes in patient condition to nursing staff

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of hemodialysis training course
• CPR Certification
• Previous patient care experience preferred but not required
