Chronic Registered Nurse (RN)

Purpose & Scope:

As a Chronic RN, you'll be responsible for delivering and coordinating clinically competent care for patients undergoing hemodialysis. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care, while also mentoring and guiding other care staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  Perform patient assessments and document treatment plans

  n

• n

  Administer medications and respond to emergencies

  n
n
• n

  Educate patients and families on treatment options

  n
n
• n

  Lead and support Patient Care Technicians and other nursing staff

  n
n
• n

  Participate in quality improvement initiatives

  n
n

Qualifications:

n
• n

  Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  n
n
• n

  Current RN license in the state of VA

  n
n
• n

  CPR BLS Certification

  n
n
• n

  Minimum 1 year of nephrology nursing experience (within last 2 years)

  n
n
• n

  At least 3 months of chronic/acute hemodialysis experience

  n
n

Physical Requirements:

n
• n

  Ability to lift/move patients and equipment (up to 200 lbs with assistance)

  n
n
• n

  Standing and bending for prolonged periods

  n
n
• n

  Exposure to infectious materials and hospital environment

  n
n

Patient Care Technician (PCT)

Purpose & Scope:

As a PCT, you'll provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You'll play a vital role in monitoring dialysis treatments, documenting patient data, and responding to emergencies.

  Assist with pre- and post-dialysis assessments

  Monitor and document treatment parameters

  n

• n

  Support emergency procedures and initiate CPR if needed

  n

• n

  Communicate changes in patient condition to nursing staff

  n

Qualifications:

  High school diploma or GED

  n
n
• n

  Completion of hemodialysis training course

  n
n
• n

  CPR Certification

  n
n
• n

  Previous patient care experience preferred but not required

  n
n
