IT Engineer

System One is seeking an experienced IT Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data infrastructure and services in a cloud-native environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong data engineering expertise, particularly in AWS and Apache Iceberg, who thrives in a collaborative and agile setting.

Successful candidates must be able to provide proof of ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. This position is not open to corp-to-corp, subcontractor or independent consulting arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  Design and implement scalable data lakehouse solutions using AWS and Apache Iceberg.

  Build and automate ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from diverse sources.

  Develop and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs for internal data access.

  Leverage AWS services such as S3, EMR, Lambda, Lake Formation, and IAM for data processing and analytics.

  Manage Apache Iceberg tables to support ACID transactions, schema evolution, and time travel.

• n

  Optimize data performance through partitioning, compaction, and tuning strategies.

• n

  Ensure data quality and integrity through validation and error-handling processes.

  Implement robust data security measures and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

  Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to deliver effective data solutions.

  Provide technical support for data pipelines and API endpoints.

  Maintain comprehensive documentation for data workflows and API specifications.

Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  Proven experience in data engineering with hands-on AWS cloud expertise.
