Internship Details

Duration: 11 weeks, full-time

Dates of Internship: June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026

Location: San Diego, CA

Compensation: Paid internship; relocation assistance available for qualified candidates

Eligibility: Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2026 through June 2028 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

About the Team

The LabCorp Diagnostics Research and Development team focuses on developing and improving laboratory tests for various diagnostic purposes such as oncology, genetics, and infectious disease.

Internship Assignment Summary:

• Develop cutting edge noninvasive prenatal diagnostic tests.
• Familiarize yourself with statistical programs to analyze and visualize data. Extract valuable insights for informed decision making.
• Engage in professional development workshops to enhance your business acumen and professional presence.
• Develop a wide variety of technical skills, potentially including multiplex PCR, digital PCR, mass spectrometry, short and/or long-read sequencing, etc.

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

• Working towards a bachelor or graduate degree in Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, or related field.
• Experience working with nucleic acids and PCR.
• Experience delivering multiple projects in an academic or professional setting.
• Experience and/or knowledge of next-generation sequencing technology is preferred but not required.
• Embraces diverse ways of thinking through various forms of collaboration and partnership.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Pay Range: $17-$20/hr

All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
