The pay range for this position is dependent on experience, ranging from $23.50 to $34.50.

This role may require a 36-hour or 40-hour work week.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the Operating Room efficiently for surgeries, ensuring all equipment and instruments are organized and ready, especially for emergency cases.
• Assist the surgeon as first or second scrub during procedures, upholding a sterile environment and maintaining instrument handling efficiency.
• Work alongside the circulating nurse to ensure all surgical instruments, needles, and sponges are accounted for.
• Develop and retain a working knowledge of all machinery used in the Operating Room, including lasers and scopes.
• Verify and receive correct implants for surgical procedures, such as grafts and hardware.
• Participate in training and orientation for new staff and students.
• Assist in patient transport to the Operating Room as needed.
• Conduct decontamination and sterilization in accordance with infection control guidelines, validated through regular competency assessments.
• Operate sterilization and cleaning equipment safely, following manufacturer instructions.
• Utilize technology for managing instrument tracking and decontamination processes.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program (Technical Certificate).
• Preferred: Certification as a Surgical Tech (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) upon hire.
• No minimum surgical technician experience required, but prior experience is a plus.
