The Human Resources Specialist will coordinate daily functions within our Human Resources Team.

  • Annual Salary: $50,000 to $55,000.
  • Eligibility for an annual incentive plan with a target incentive of 10% of your base salary.

Your responsibilities as a Human Resources Specialist will include:

  • Assisting and observing various training programs to ensure compliance with McLane Company practices and federal laws.
  • Facilitating required harassment/substance abuse training and safety programs.
  • Maintaining various records such as logo clothing, relocation billing, FMLA records, as well as workers' compensation and safety documentation.
  • Coordinating special events like CMN, United Way, Health Fair, and team celebrations.
  • Providing support to the HR Manager when necessary.
  • Ensuring all employment processes comply with legal guidelines and treat every applicant fairly.
  • Managing job requisitions and developing recruitment strategies alongside managers.
  • Coordinating and attending career fairs, screening applications, communicating with applicants, and verifying employment history.
  • Advising managers on hiring processes, managing pre-employment paperwork, and facilitating orientation.
  • Promoting teammate morale through open communication and assisting with policy interpretation.
  • Coordinating teammate meetings while facilitating New Hire Orientation and interacting daily with teammates and managers.
  • Performing other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Over 2 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Hands-on experience in training and coaching.
  • Understanding of safety practice guidelines.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Excel; PowerPoint experience is helpful, and Peoplesoft experience is preferred.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues diplomatically.
  • Skill in reviewing and interpreting data, transactions, policies, and business practices.
  • Effective communication skills with teammates at all levels, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English sufficiently to perform job-related tasks safely and effectively, including following safety protocols and work instructions.
