Monitors, cleans, calibrates and maintains devices and instruments according to manufacturer specifications and relevant standards. Troubleshoots malfunctions and initiates corrective action. Keeps accurate records of all equipment checks and maintenance actions performed.Conducts various hematology, urinalysis and body fluid analysis tests, such as complete blood counts, coagulation studies, body fluid cell counts, and peripheral blood/body fluid smear reviews. Possesses strong analytical skills to interpret laboratory results, identifying abnormalities, and accurately reporting findings to healthcare providers for diagnosis and treatment planning. Has a deep understanding of blood cell morphology, coagulation processes, and common hematological disorders.Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections, including acceptable QC recognition of abnormal/unusual results. Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel. Reports, documents, and communicates critical values to appropriate personnel per hospital policyAdheres to established quality control policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and validity of laboratory results. Recognizes factors that affect measurements and takes appropriate action according to protocol. Follows QC protocols for all testing before releasing results. Documents quality control results in compliance with regulatory agencies. Completes reports and maintains records of test results by entering and verifying data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Participates in proficiency testing program.MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required.1 year experience and/or training in a laboratory setting.Strong Hematology background preferred.ASCP certification preferred.
