Material Handler And Flat Bed Operator - San Diego, Ca

We are seeking a skilled Material Handler/Flat Bed Operator to manage loading and unloading tasks, operate equipment, and perform general maintenance at our facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling materials at shipyard facilities and possess the ability to comfortably use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload flatbed trucks efficiently.
• Operate equipment to load materials for various shipyard facilities including Coronado, NI, CMSD, BAE, NASSCO, and the Naval Base.
• Secure materials by strapping them down.
• Move and stage materials with the capability to lift 50+ lbs.
• Operate a sit-down forklift for staging materials.
• Perform general maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and conducting basic preventative maintenance at the manufacturing facility.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
• Certified forklift operator with at least 1 year of experience.
• Experience in material handling and equipment operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous shipyard experience is highly desirable.
• Experience working aboard a CVN Class Navy ship is preferred.
• Strong carpentry and handyman skills.

Work Environment

• Work will be performed at a well-equipped facility, requiring adherence to safety protocols. The role involves using a variety of equipment and tools, with tasks that require physical effort including lifting heavy materials.

• This is a Contract-to-hire position based out of Chula Vista, California

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
