Position Overview

The Grain Merchandiser is responsible for buying, selling, and optimizing grain inventory to meet market demands while maximizing profitability. The ideal candidate will have 35+ years of experience, preferably with coarse grains such as corn, milo, and wheat, and will be comfortable handling cross-country trading and higher-volume transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchase and sell commodities using market knowledge, analysis, and data to drive profitable results.
• Develop and execute merchandising strategies that align with company goals while effectively managing risk.
• Monitor and analyze market conditions, competition, and transportation rates to optimize procurement and logistics.
• Conduct daily hedging activities and prepare accurate position reports.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, providing excellent service and timely support.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• 35+ years of grain merchandising or commodity trading experience required.
• Strong knowledge of coarse grains and cross-country trading.
• Understanding of hedging, logistics, and market risk management.
• Proven ability to analyze markets and make timely, strategic decisions.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
