Grain Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Grain Accountant to join our team at a well-established agricultural operation in Iowa. This role is ideal for someone with a background in agriculture-related accounting, particularly in grain handling or elevator operations.

As a key member of our 56 person office, you'll play a hands-on role in supporting day-to-day accounting functions while collaborating closely with the Controller. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily accounting operations including payables, receivables, and reconciliations
• Accurately record and monitor grain transactions, including scale tickets, settlements, and inventory
• Understand and manage grain contracts, basis terms, and commodity receiving processes
• Support compliance and reporting requirements related to grain handling
• Collaborate with team members to ensure office needs are met and processes run smoothly
• Assist the Controller with month-end close, reporting, and other financial tasks as needed

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• MUST have a background in accounting within a grain elevator or agriculture-related business
• Familiarity with grain scale operations, commodity receiving, and grain contracts
• Knowledge of basis terms and compliance requirements in the ag industry
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Flexibility to jump in where needed in a small team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Ag Business, or related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the agriculture sector
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
