Your Impact

Primary responsibilities include performance of earthquake engineering and numerical modeling under the guidance and mentorship of senior engineers.

  Advanced earthquake engineering (probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, ground motion characterization, site response analysis (1-D, 2-D), evaluation of liquefaction/cyclic softening triggering and effects, seismic slope stability, and soil-structure interaction).

  n

  Numerical modeling using finite element or finite difference software such as PLAXIS and FLAC.

Additional job responsibilities include:

• n

  Performing geotechnical analyses and design of foundations, embankments/cuts, tunnels, and earth retaining systems for transportation/water/energy projects.

  n

• n

  Preparing geotechnical memoranda, data and design reports.

  n
n
• n

  Providing geotechnical support during construction.

  n
n
• n

  Conducting field inspection of geotechnical construction.

  n
n
• n

  Conducting geotechnical investigations and laboratory testing programs.

n

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

n
• n

  Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related discipline.

  n
n
• n

  3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience.

  n
n
• n

  Solid training in soil mechanics and foundation engineering.

  n
n
• n

  Educational background and interest in geotechnical earthquake engineering.

  n
n
• n

  Good verbal and written communication skills.

  n
n

Preferred Qualifications

n
• n

  Engineer in Training Certification.

  n
n
• n

  Candidates with 0 to 5 years of experience will be considered.

  n
n
• n

  Master's Degree/PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related discipline heavily preferred.

  n

• n

  Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.

  n
n
• n

  A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.

  n
n
• n

  Experience using commercially available geotechnical software (i.e. Ensoft, Bentley, Rocscience, Itasca, GeoMotions)

  n
n
• n

  Ability and willingness to travel for field work.

  n
n
• n

  Working knowledge of MicroStation and GIS systems

n
