Overview
General Manager II – Store 2240 Waynesboro, VA. The General Manager is a professional level sales and management position responsible for leading store operations, driving sales, developing Professional Customer relationships, and achieving financial metrics while maintaining service and appearance standards. The role is exempt and requires a minimum of 50-55 hours per week, with a schedule that includes 5-6 days per week, 11 hour shifts, rotating nights and weekends, and one hour for lunch. Additional hours may be required based on staffing, store conditions, and business needs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
- Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships/sales, including building and holding the team accountable to executing Customer action plans
- Recruitment, selection, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling and engagement of store team members
- Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
- Coach all team members to deliver on Customer expectations (DIY and Professional)
- Manager on duty responsibilities (coaching, floor and phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties)
- Ability to lead change management
- Support a diverse and respectful environment for Customers and Team Members
Secondary Responsibilities
- Provide DIY service including battery installation, testing, wiper installation, etc.
- Assist District/Region in other functions upon request

- Ability to execute and train inventory systems and store equipment
- Ability to execute and train POS and Parts lookup systems
- Ability to review and analyze P&L statements

- Ability to build and grow relationships with Professional Customers
Essential Job Skills Necessary for Success as a General Manager
- Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with Customers, peers and management
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; PowerPoint preferred
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent
- Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as P&L
- Hold others accountable, inspect work quality and provide inspiring feedback
- Ability to work a variable schedule including days, evenings and weekends
- 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 Team Members in a fast-paced retail environment
- Proven experience managing profitability and financial acumen
Education
- High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in business or related area preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- ASE certification preferred, but not required
Physical Demands
The physical demands and work environment are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. The role involves walking/standing, talking, hearing, and manual tasks. Lifting up to 50 pounds routinely and up to 100 pounds occasionally may be required. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Typically indoor work, with occasional outdoor tasks such as battery and wiper installations. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, varying weather, and potential exposure to chemicals, electrical risk, and noise. The environment is usually moderate in noise.
Position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance.
