General Manager 4, Food / Director Of Dining

Sodexo is seeking a General Manager 4, Food / Director of Dining to lead our food service team at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC), a large continuing care retirement community located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge and Massanutten Mountains of the Shenandoah Valley, they strive to be a community of hope, meaning and growth where people can age well and live fully.

The General Manager will oversee the daily dining operations serving approximately 600 residents. Reporting to the District Manager, this role involves managing 4 managers and an hourly staff of approximately 60 employees. Strong communication, client relations, and team-building skills, and prior senior living/healthcare experience are essential.

What You'll Do

• Have oversight of the daily dining operations including dining room service, bistro, and catering;
• Deliver high-quality food service;
• Implement Sodexo systems and programs, and oversee training of staff;
• Continuously evaluate service to ensure resident and client satisfaction;
• Drive employee engagement and resident satisfaction through strong leadership skills;
• Integrate fully within our client's organization and be a trusted advisor with a customer service focus;
• Achieve company and client financial targets and goals;
• Develop strategic plans;
• Create a positive environment; and
• Ensure Sodexo Standards are met.

What You Bring

• 5 or more years previous food service management experience with a strong senior living and healthcare background;
• Strong financial acumen;
• A strong background in safety and sanitation compliance;
• A work history demonstrating strong leadership and hospitality skills with the ability to work collaboratively;
• The ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, and a passion for a high level of customer service;
• Knowledge of compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards;
• The ability to prioritize tasks and exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed; and
• Working knowledge of Food Management Systems, and is proficient in computer skills and report management experience.
