We have an exciting opportunity for a Gateway Mission Design Engineer to join the team with Intuitive Machines, a teammate company.

This new position is on the JETS Gateway Mission Design Team providing mission analysis and design across the Artemis Program. The selected applicant will:

  Support state-of-the-art research in cislunar astrodynamics and spacecraft mission design for multi-vehicle architecture

  n

• n

  Generate strategies for operating in cislunar space for a range of vehicle capabilities

  n
n
• n

  Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for evaluation of vehicle and mission performance

  n
n
• n

  Provide software development and scripting in orbit analysis software tools, such as FreeFlyer, Monte, or GMAT

  n
n
• n

  Develop requirements verification documentation for mission design products

  n
n
• n

  Provide recommendations for improvements in software/data products

  n
n
• n

  Perform other duties as required

  n
n

Requisition Qualifications:

  Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area

  Experience with cislunar astrodynamics and dynamical systems theory

  n

• n

  Experience with development of spacecraft mission design algorithms and analyzing spacecraft performance

  n
n
• n

  Experience developing, verifying, and validating simulation models

  n
n
• n

  Excellent communication skills

  Experience working in a team environment

  Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance in a collaborative environment

  Experience with Microsoft Office products

Requisition Preferences:

  PhD in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on trajectory design, optimization, and orbital mechanics

  Experience with the Gateway and/or Artemis Program

  n

• n

  Experience with spacecraft Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking

• n

  Experience in spacecraft orbit determination and non-linear filtering techniques

• n

  Experience with 3-DOF spacecraft simulations

  n

• n

  Proficiency in software development using programming languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB or Julia

  n

• n

  Experience with product delivery and management

  n
n
• n

  Experience with source code management tools such as Git/GitLab and continuous integration systems such as Gitlab

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
