Full-Time Cytotechnologist

Job Summary:

This role is essential for the accurate interpretation of cell studies, providing critical information and results to physicians that enhance diagnosis and improve patient care quality. The Cytotechnologist will uphold the values and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in service to our patients, physicians, and colleagues.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, No Call, No Weekends. We focus exclusively on Non-Gyn samples.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Evaluate microscopic cell preparations to identify abnormalities.
• Prepare cell samples and specimens to ensure timely and effective diagnoses.
• Maintain thorough patient follow-up files to keep accurate records of procedures and results.
• Enter test result data and conduct quality control procedures for effective reporting.
• Consult with physicians and other departments to accurately interpret test results and patient protocols.
• Document the total number of slides examined or reviewed in all laboratories daily.
• Track the number of hours spent examining slides each day.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• CT (ASCP) certification or equivalent is mandatory.
• Six months to one year of relevant experience is preferred.
