Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service. Operates cash register accurately and scans product. Ensures cleanliness of store, quality and quantity of product, and tends to supply needs in the store and at the pumps.

Accountable and reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Manager of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Fast & Fresh Department Manager; Assistant Fast & Fresh Department Manager.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

• Providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.
• Smiling and greeting customers in a friendly manner.
• Assisting customers by escorting them to products, securing products, loading or unloading heavy items, making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Answering the telephone promptly and providing friendly, helpful service.
• Working with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Operating cash register accurately and scanning products.
• Redeeming promotional coupons, food stamps, receiving cash, checks, completing credit-card charge transactions, in-store charges, and figuring discounts.
• Placing merchandise in bags or boxes and giving packages to customers.
• Assisting with inventory of the department.
• Receiving and checking in delivered merchandise and placing in appropriate storage area.
• Ensuring proper maintenance of the lot.
• Filling outside towel holders, replenishing or refreshing window washer fluid.
• Removing trash inside and out in a timely manner.
• Checking in product, putting product away, and reviewing invoices.
• Understanding and practicing proper sanitation procedures.
• Cleaning but not limited to registers, restrooms, break room, backroom.
• Maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines.
• Adhering to company policies and individual store guidelines.
• Reporting to work when scheduled and on time.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include:

• Ordering merchandise and supplies as needed.
• Pricing products for customers as necessary.
• Performing other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include:

• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to do arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to file, post, and mail materials.

Education and experience requirements: None.

Physical requirements include:

• Ability to physically perform medium work.
• Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet.
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working conditions include exposure to temperature extremes and dampness.

Equipment used includes telephone, fax, copier, pallet jacks, garbage disposal, trash compactor, cardboard compactor, box cutter, knives, computer, calculator, frozen juice machine, coffee maker, cash register, RPM, gas pumps.

Has daily contact with customers, co-workers, suppliers/vendors, and the general public.

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $15.00 to $18.75 depending on experience.
