Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic undergraduate student to join our team as a co-op for developing and optimizing cell-based assays to study protein regulation in live cells. This role will support ongoing research efforts aimed at understanding cellular mechanisms related to protein stability and degradation.
The co-op will gain hands-on experience with luminescence-based technologies, live-cell screening platforms, and multiplexed assay formats. This position offers exposure to high-throughput workflows and data analysis techniques used in drug discovery.
The full-time Co-Op will take place July - December 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn principles of assay development and high-throughput screening.
- Develop skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication.
- Assist in developing and optimizing live-cell assays to monitor protein modifications.
- Evaluate assay performance metrics such as signal-to-background ratio and reproducibility.
- Support compound screening efforts and help interpret biological responses.
- Contribute to assay documentation, data visualization, and protocol refinement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore workflow improvements.
- Gain experience with live-cell technologies and luminescence/fluorescence-based readouts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduate student in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related field.
- Interest in cell biology, assay development, or drug discovery.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new techniques.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a lab setting.
- All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.
The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $29.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.
