Duties/Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
- Perform annual/systematic 90 day and HM-183 inspections (trailers) as required.
- Ensure compliance with Federal FHWA standards.
- Operate a yard hostler truck for moving trailers within the facility yard and shop.
- Order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
- Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment for safety and equipment longevity.
- Utilize welding equipment as necessary.
- Perform various additional duties as assigned.
- Conduct HM-183 DOT inspections.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in repair and service of trailers and medium-duty trucks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair related to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with DOT rules and regulations regarding tractor and trailer maintenance.
- Ability to effectively use vehicle diagnostic software.
- At least 2 years of experience as a fleet mechanic.
- Minimum of 3 years with DOT HM-183 certification or relevant training/experience.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A dynamic, engaged team player.
- Willingness to work either 1st shift (M-F 7am-3:30pm) or 2nd shift (2pm-10:30pm).
