Fantastic opportunity for a Relief Veterinary Assistant with experience to join our amazing and friendly team at VCA Coast Animal Hospital in the heart of Hermosa Beach!

VCA Coast Animal Hospital is seeking a Relief Veterinary Assistant to join our AAHA-accredited, 4-doctor practice in Hermosa Beach, California. Position available for a Relief, experienced Veterinary Assistant. Responsibilities require proficiency in phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, stress-free handling, digital radiography, administration of vaccines and medications. The ideal candidate will also possess great attendance, client communication skills and superior customer service skills, attention to detail and a desire to work in a great team atmosphere. Salary will be based on the level of experience.

Essential functions include:

• Venipuncture
• Catheter placement
• Radiology
• Physical examinations, patient assessment and record keeping
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Dentistry
• Laboratory work
• Pharmacy
• Patient recovery
• Compassionate care for hospitalized patients
• Client Relations
• Housekeeping/Maintenance

Qualifications:

• Must have documented previous animal hospital experience
• Animal handling
• Anesthesia monitoring (Preferred but not required)
• Dentistry (Preferred but not required)
• Capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties that will be expected in the job
• Must be friendly, outgoing, "people oriented"
• Flexibility in hours including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays
• Customer service skills including phone skills
• Working knowledge of computers
• Excellent communications skills
• Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments

Compensation: $17 - $22/hr. Dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule and additional responsibilities.
