Tucker Mechanical, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is a full-service mechanical contractor with over 65 years of experience specializing in 24/7/365 HVAC service, power/industrial piping, commercial/process plumbing, and commercial HVAC systems, as well as computer aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) technology. We build, renovate, and upgrade, as well as service, maintain, and operate facilities for a full spectrum of clients.

The Junior Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems in commercial and industrial construction projects. This role supports the development of bid quotations and packages, working closely with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing and scope alignment. This role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with some construction experience who are eager to learn and grow within the mechanical contracting industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Willingness to learn how to effectively perform tasks listed below within our established operating methodology
• Collect / work with historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
• Participate in consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Help prepare estimates to be used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
• Assist in analyzing blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Participate in walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings.
• Basic Quantitative take-off and computer entry.
• Prepare scope letters and proposals.
• Build & maintain relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate efforts in performing take-offs, issuing bills of material to vendors and obtaining subcontractor quotes.
• Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Manager of Preconstruction with recommendation for resolution.
• Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
• Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

Qualifications:

• Related experience in the construction industry.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Field experience / knowledge is a definite benefit.

Computer Skills:

• Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)
• Familiarity with Autobid Mechanical, Bluebeam and/or other mechanical or construction programs is a plus.
