ER/ECC Veterinary Assistant

About the Role: Emergency and Critical Care Assistants (ER/ECC) play a vital support role in providing urgent and intensive care to animals in critical conditions under the supervision of veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians.

Compensation: $18 - $24 depending on experience. +$2.50/ per hour shift differential for hours worked between 6pm-6am.

Anticipated Schedule: Full Time (2 shifts available):

• Sunday - Wednesday: 8:30am-6:30pm
• Tuesday - Friday: 7am-5:30pm

Essential Job Functions:

• Prepare exam rooms for each visit, including tools needed for each exam.
• Retrieve patient charts from client services or referring department on behalf of the technicians when asked.
• Obtain other vitals, lab work, and diagnostics as needed per doctors or technician orders.
• Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
• Care for hospitalized patients - administer medications, monitor vital signs, other duties as ordered by the treating veterinarian or treating ER technician.
• Clean kennels, runs, wet tables and all other areas of the treatment area and hospital as needed.
• Assist in Ultrasound if needed.
• Laundry
• Basic grooming as needed.
• Other duties as needed.

Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:

• At least ONE YEAR of veterinary assistant experience is REQUIRED to be considered for this role!
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and taking radiographs.
• Experience in a emergency/specialty setting.
• Knowledge of EasyVet or similar medical record systems.
