Contractor Work Model: Onsite (NO option for Hybrid or Remote)

Overview:

The Environmental Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting the operations of the facility’s filter plant, waste water treatment plant, and solid waste disposal activities.

Responsibilities:

  Ensures and is accountable for personal compliance with Plant and Departmental safety rules.

  Completes all required computer-based training on time.

  n

• n

  Attends all in-person safety training as it is scheduled.

  n
n
• n

  Uses all PPE required for safe execution of job tasks. Has the ability to be qualified for respirator use.

  n

• n

  Promotes and fosters a workplace culture of continuous improvement and improved environmental practices.

  n

• n

  Adheres to environmental policies and promotes performing tasks in ways that support environmental objectives.

  n

• n

  Works to ensure that the effective communications is transferred between the Environmental Operations and Environmental Compliance groups.

  n

• n

  Communicates critical information to Mill lead team and external stakeholders as needed.

  n
n
• n

  Supports initiatives to reduce costs across solid waste and water treatment operations.

  n
n
• n

  Actively participates in scheduled maintenance outages.

  n
n
• n

  Recommends equipment repairs and replacement. Provides input to cost center owners of the need for such projects.

  n

• n

  Works with outside vendors to improve operational performance and cost as it relates to water and effluent quality.

  n
n
• n

  Provides data and technical support to assist Engineering and Maintenance with departmental related projects.

  n
n
• n

  Assists with the preparation of annual Maintenance, Residuals/Waste Management and Capital budgets.

  n

• n

  Accompanies state and regulatory agency inspectors during on-site inspections.

  n
n
• n

  Assists EHS manager with solid waste permitting as needed.

  n
n
• n

  Covers the Environmental Operations department for weekend call rotation.

  n
n
• n

  Performs other duties as assigned.

n

Requirements:

n
• n

  Experience – Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not mandatory. Water or waste water treatment experience is a bonus.

  n

• n

  Education – 4-year degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred. Other Engineering degrees will be considered and are dependent upon experience.

  Work Environment

  Varies from office setting to loud, hot & humid manufacturing environment both indoor and outdoor. Role requires the ability to travel throughout the facility while using stairs, ladders, elevated platforms, and elevators. Normal vision or vision corrected to near normal is essential. Normal depth perception and peripheral. Ability to be qualified for respirator use.
