Entry-Level Medical Technologist - Flow Cytometry

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with participation in a rotating on-call schedule.

In this role, you will handle a variety of patient tests and administrative tasks that support clinical activities within the UNC Health Clinical Services.

As a Medical Technologist I in the Flow Cytometry lab, you will perform high complexity tests to support various programs in Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Investigate issues related to equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
2. Collaborate on teams or engage in special projects and assignments.
3. Contribute to teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as training new staff. Serve as a technical resource.
4. Ensure quality control and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
5. Perform routine tests and special procedures including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests, noting observations and providing data.
6. Prepare specimens and reagents as required for testing.
7. Report results to healthcare providers and consult with them regarding test findings.
8. Review test outcomes to confirm accuracy and ensure timely corrections of any discrepancies.

Additional Information:

Education Requirements: A Bachelor's of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of hire.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming eligible.

Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience is necessary.

Salary Range: $26.59-$38.23 (Hiring Range). Compensation is based on experience and internal equity.
