Geotechnical Engineering Technician

A Civil/Geotechnical firm is seeking motivated candidates to train for fieldwork on various geotechnical projects around the Kansas City metro area, with up to 50% regional travel covering Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa. A company vehicle will be provided for job site travel, and per diem is available when necessary. Ideal candidates should have a passion for the outdoors, be willing to work in inclement weather, enjoy working in small teams, be skilled with tools, and be capable of pushing, pulling, and lifting specialized equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Geotechnical Drilling Crew Leader in operating auger/rotary drilling machines.
• Support the driller in the field with soil borings and soil sampling.
• Monitor well installations and perform rock coring.
• Report findings and collect and sort field samples for laboratory analysis.
• Replace drill augers and carry out additional duties as directed by the lead driller.

• Physical ability to handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Willingness to undergo a drug test and background check.
• Reliable transportation to the office.

Work Environment

This position involves working in remote field locations around the Kansas City Metro area, with potential for longer distances depending on the project. The job requires working outdoors, often in challenging weather conditions, and involves physical labor. Appropriate attire for fieldwork is required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
