Enterprise Backup Engineer I

Job Summary: Join our dynamic team as an Enterprise Backup Engineer I (EBE I), a critical role focused on safeguarding our data through expert management of enterprise data protection initiatives including data backup, security, and disaster recovery. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the smooth functioning and compliance of our backup systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies for comprehensive server system backups and data management.
• Maintain and optimize backup systems for availability and capacity, ensuring compliance with data retention policies.
• Administer backup solutions, aligning with business requirements, and lead efforts in evaluating emerging backup technologies including cloud solutions.
• Create and maintain documentation that captures the current state of our enterprise backup environment.
• Manage daily tasks including backup configuration, data recovery operations, and performance tuning.
• Provide third-level support and train team members on backup technologies.

Strategy & Planning:

• Coordinate with peers to define system standards and design advanced backup solutions that align with organizational goals.
• Prioritize and manage various projects and service requests effectively.

System Integration & Management:

• Integrate and assess backup components, ensuring compatibility and operational efficiency within the existing systems.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain vendor relationships to enhance service delivery.

Training & Certification:

• Stay updated with the latest in backup technologies through ongoing education and certification in tools such as Dell/EMC, Veritas, IBM, and cloud backups.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience (3 years).
• Intermediate technical knowledge of storage solutions including NAS, DAS, SAN, and object storage.
• Minimum two years of experience in backup administration and configuration.
• Familiarity with VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies is preferred.
• Background in healthcare systems is a plus.

Work Schedule: 8AM - 5PM, Monday - Friday. This is a full-time position.
