Pay rate: $30 Hourly on W2 (without any benefits)
Job Description:
The Optics department is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our Precision Optics Department. The successful candidate will have experience with industry manufacturing standards, strong manual dexterity, and a sharp eye for detail. The candidate will play a crucial role in the fabrication and quality assurance of precision optical components and assemblies.
Essential Functions:

Perform detailed manufacturing of precision optical components and assemblies to verify conformance to specifications and drawings.
Conduct surface quality assessments using industry standards (e.g., MIL-PRF-13830B).
Measure critical dimensions using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision instruments.
Interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions to validate manufacturing criteria.
Document manufacturing results clearly and accurately.
Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to communicate quality issues and support root cause investigations.
Assist in the development and improvement of manufacturing procedures and protocols.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Maintain manufacturing equipment and ensure calibration status is current.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in optics, precision engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in optical inspection or a related field.
Proficiency in using optical and mechanical measurement tools and equipment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise and accurate inspections.
Good understanding of optical principles and quality control processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and ability to document and report findings clearly.

Security Clearance required for role : Ability to Obtain

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of optical coatings, lens fabrication, and assembly processes.

Work Environment:

Role may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
Work performed in a clean, climate-controlled inspection area.
