Position Summary

As an Endoscopy Technician, you will assist our dedicated Endoscopy staff with patient care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

Formal Education/Training:

• High School Graduate
• Medical terminology course or 1 year of experience in the health field

Work Experience:

• Experience in Perioperative Care is preferred

Equipment and Skills Training:

• Capability to perform well under pressure
• Experienced in standard patient care equipment
• Proficient with network computer systems and Endoscopy sterile processing equipment

Physical Environment:

Work within an Endoscopy Unit catering to patients of all ages, from infancy to over ninety-nine years old.

Physical Effort:

1. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
2. Ability to stand and work for up to twelve hours a day
3. Assist in lifting and turning patients up to 250 lbs.
4. Transport patients on stretchers or beds as necessary

Performance Standards:

1. Anticipate and provide necessary equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs
2. Assist in patient care, report issues, and perform interventions as directed by nursing staff
3. Offer emotional and psychosocial support to patients
4. Ensure sterilization and cleaning of supplies/equipment meet established standards
5. Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care efficiently
6. Safely handle and transport medications in compliance with hospital policies
7. Participate in departmental compliance with Joint Commission standards
8. Engage in process improvement activities within the department
9. Assist in staff development and training for new personnel
10. Demonstrate accountability for assigned tasks and responsibilities
11. Support other Perioperative areas as needed during non-Endoscopy times
12. Maintain professionalism and cleanliness in work areas
