Job Summary
The Electrophysiology (EP) Technician is responsible for assisting physicians during electrophysiology studies, ablations, pacemaker/ICD implants, and other cardiac procedures. This role ensures proper setup, operation, and maintenance of specialized EP lab equipment and provides critical intra-procedural support to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Assist physicians during electrophysiology procedures, including diagnostic and interventional studies.

Operate EP lab equipment such as mapping systems, stimulators, and recording systems.

Prepare and maintain sterile fields, ensuring all required instruments and equipment are available and functioning.

Monitor patient vitals and document procedural details accurately in real time.

Calibrate and troubleshoot EP equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Coordinate with nursing and technical staff to ensure procedural readiness and patient comfort.

Maintain accurate logs of procedures, equipment usage, and inventory.

Adhere to hospital and department policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 1â€“2 years of experience in an electrophysiology or cardiac catheterization lab.

Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, electrophysiology procedures, and medical terminology.

Proficient in operating EP systems and other related technologies.

Excellent communication and critical-thinking skills.

Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced clinical environments.

Preferred Qualificat ions

Associate or bachelor's degree in a health-related field.

Prior experience in an EP Lab or similar environment with advanced responsibilities.

Familiarity with 3D mapping systems (e.g., CARTO, EnSite, or Rhythmia).

Certificati ons

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification â€“ required

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification â€“ preferred

RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) certification â€“ preferred
