The DOD Skillbridge programs provide our retiring and transitioning Service members the opportunity to participate in industry training programs while transitioning out of their Military careers.
The DOD covers Military pay and benefits during a Service member's time in a Skillbridge program, providing an invaluable experience for the Service member and the industry partner.

- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must have an active Top-Secret Clearance
- Must be approved or in the approval process to participate in the DOD's Skillbridge Program
- Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license
- Some travel may be required
- Selectee will be required to complete for FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
- Assist in performing installation and preventative and corrective (or emergency) maintenance and service work on FM radio systems, data networks, and electronic physical security systems.
- Inspect equipment for adherence to standards and tolerances.
- Install and maintain two-way FM radios and associated equipment in automobiles.
- Perform corrective maintenance to restore a system which is out of operating condition; conduct extensive analytical testing and take positive action to replace or repair deficient or malfunctioning components and units
- Install or replace portions of the Bureau's communication and intrusion systems; assist senior technician and FBIHQ technical personnel in the installation of new stations and/or equipment. Conduct surveys and advise of redesign or alteration in equipment to solve unique operational deficiencies based on personal experience with geographic, climatic and physical conditions existing in the area for which the systems are being established. Evaluate test results of new or modified equipment in terms of operational efficiency, and attainment of objectives.
- Conduct a competent inspection, maintenance, and repair program to insure optimum operational capability of all electronic and electro-mechanical systems and equipment for which technically responsible including stand-by and emergency equipment and/or systems. Much of the equipment is geographically dispersed with subsystems located in hard to reach areas or in high towers requiring the Electronics Technician to perform maintenance and repair functions in such a manner as to assure trouble-free operation.

- The FBI is in the Executive Branch of the federal government. It is one of the components of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The FBI is the principle investigative arm of the DOJ. All FBI positions are in the excepted service.
