Senior Electrical Controls Engineer

Location: College Park, GA (onsite, occasional travel to Marietta, GA office)

Travel: ~10-15% to out-of-state client sites

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Controls Engineer with a strong background in liquid process equipment within the Food & Beverage or Chemical industries. This is a hands-on role where you will provide electrical and controls engineering expertise for project design, commissioning, and start-up. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to minimize overnight travel while working directly at client facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply engineering principles to existing and proposed processes for clients in Food & Beverage, Chemical, and other industries.
• Lead or support all aspects of electrical controls project execution, including:
• PLC and HMI controls system design, programming, and modification
• Electrical schematics and control panel design
• Generating electrical installation bid packages
• Supervising installation activities and supporting start-ups
• Work on process systems such as batching, mixing, and blending of liquids (process equipment focus, not packaging)
• Deliver projects on aggressive schedules while maintaining high safety standards
• Typical Work Breakdown:
• PLC programming: 50%
• SCADA/OIT programming: 20%
• Electrical drawings/design: 15%
• Startup and checkout: 15%

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of process controls engineering experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in Food & Beverage, Pet Food, or Chemical industries (recent and relevant experience required)
• Hands-on experience with process equipment for liquids (batching, mixing, blending)
• Consultant or project execution experience a plus
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and MS Project
• Experience designing industrial control systems, including electrical control panel design, electrical schematics, MCC layouts
• Rockwell PLCs: ControlLogix/CompactLogix, PLC 5, SLC
• SCADA/HMI systems: FTView, iFix, Wonderware, Ignition, etc.
• Rockwell VFD design/troubleshooting and PID control loop tuning
• Communication network design/troubleshooting: Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, ASi, ModBus
• Strong research skills, energetic, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills

Essential Functions:

• Fieldwork required: climbing ladders, walking crossovers, accessing equipment, and navigating large manufacturing plants
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and MVR
