Distribution Design Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Distribution Design Engineer for one of our large engineering consulting firms. This engineer will aide in the upgrades of a major energy providers distribution grids.

n
• n Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV mostly associated with programmatic work such as overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.nn

• n Comply with the company and Client Safety requirements as well as design and quality expectations.nn
n
• n Perform engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.nn
n
• n Develop permitting documents for different AHJ's.nn
n
• n Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.nn
n
• n Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.nn
n

Skills and Requirements

• n Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institutionnn
n
• n Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools experiencenn
n
• n Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills Construction background, design work, civil engineering, electrical experience and programming experiencenn
n
• n Work Management Systems (WMS) SAP B1 and/or SAGE Experiencenn
n
• n Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc or similarnn
n
• n Experience with NESCnn
n
• n Experience with design standards nn
n
