Position Details:

• Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Technician
• Job Location: Mattoon, IL & Waverly, OH
• Schedule: 2nd shift, Sunday - Thursday, 3 pm - 11:30 pm
• Reports to: Truck Shop Manager
• Pay: $21/hr - $26/hr
• Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and more after 60 days; 401k with company match after 60 days; 1 week PTO in the first 6 months.

Job Summary:

As a Diesel Mechanic Technician, you will ensure the reliability of diesel equipment by performing inspections and preventive maintenance, promptly addressing vehicle issues, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition, identifying and addressing worn or damaged parts.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment availability.
• Resolve vehicle issues through the removal, repair, and replacement of major assemblies and components, including power and drive trains, electrics, and hydraulics.
• Test drive vehicles to verify performance and make necessary adjustments.
• Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing.
• Document services and repairs accurately to keep vehicle records up to date.
• Ensure shop equipment functions correctly by troubleshooting and maintaining supplies.
• Manage inventory by tracking supply levels and placing orders as needed.
• Contribute to team success by accepting new tasks and seeking opportunities to improve operations.
• Train new hires on essential job duties and responsibilities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 months of experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to guide others.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of safety requirements and regulations.
• Proficiency in diagnosing technical malfunctions in machinery.
• Familiarity with repair tools, equipment, and diagnostic machinery.

Physical Requirements:

• Good visual acuity with effective communication skills.
• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Equipment Used:

• Basic computer skills and diagnostic software.
• Electronic Logging Devices, such as People Net.
