Diesel Mechanic

A Diesel Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including trucks, buses, and heavy machinery. This role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, replacing parts, and ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
• Run diagnostic tests to pinpoint problems within diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, and other components.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Repair or replace faulty parts, including engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and other mechanical components.
• Diagnose and repair issues across various systems, including hydraulics, brakes, transmissions, steering, and electrical systems.
• Maintain detailed records of all services, repairs, and parts inventory, ensuring accurate documentation for each vehicle.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
• Consult with customers to understand issues and explain repairs when applicable.
• Perform welding or fabrication tasks on trailers and other equipment as necessary.

Essential Skills

• Experience in inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Expertise in repairing or replacing mechanical components such as engines and transmissions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with hydraulics, brakes, transmissions, steering, and electrical systems.
• Strong record-keeping skills for documenting services and repairs.
• Excellent customer interaction skills for consulting and explaining repairs.
• Skills in welding or fabricating tasks on trailers and equipment.

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr. Ranger offers full benefits coverage including health, dental, vision, and 401K. They also have competitive PTO packages and room for growth within the company.

This is a fully onsite position in Birmingham, AL.
