Job Details

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Equipment Mechanic who will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel equipment, such as tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, and lift gates.

Key Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform comprehensive repairs on various diesel equipment.
Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with company standards.
Document all repair orders, preventative maintenance lists, and inventory part usage accurately.
Handle road service calls and perform necessary on-site repairs or transport equipment as needed.
Log all assigned repairs within the Shop Fax system to ensure accountability.
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment by adhering to workplace safety regulations.
Assist in the maintenance of inventory and proper recordkeeping.
Provide backup support to other members of the maintenance shop team.
Take on increased responsibilities and pursue additional certifications as required.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient shop operations.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic, or 2 years with a Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification.
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for efficient equipment repairs.
Demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Experience in administering a preventative maintenance program is preferred.
Must possess personal hand tools essential for diesel repair work.
CDL A and DOT certification is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough understanding of EPA and OSHA regulations related to shop and fleet operations.
Ability to read and comprehend technical and service manuals.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively with co-workers and drivers.
Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Adaptable to changing organizational and operational needs.
Proficiency in computer and software applications.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and to perform overtime as required.

Compensation is based on relevant experience and education, specific skills, and geographical location, typically ranging from $25 to $30 per hour . Overtime compensation may apply.
