Cleveland Clinic offers innovative treatments in kidney medicine, including minimally invasive, scarless options for procedures and management of kidney disease. On our Kidney Medicine Unit, you will be caring for our renal failure patients that are visiting for additional care or who are inpatients. You will use our state-of-the-art dialysis technology and follow our 'patient-first' methodology to deliver exceptional care.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:00pm 6:30am, including rotating full weekends and every other holiday requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform and support Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) procedures on acutely ill patients.
• Perform and support Continuous Renal Replacement therapies (CVVH,CVVHD, CVVHDF, SCUF and ECMO) in the ICUs and O.R's by preparing dialysis solutions, setting up machines and attaching the treatment to the patient for 24-hour continuous therapy and serving as a 24-hour resource for the ICU nurses for any alarms or questions regarding the patient's therapy.
• Perform technical support responsibilities that include preparing, transferring, and packaging dialysis mixtures and baths (acid and bicarb).
• Assist with basic equipment usage issues and troubleshooting.
• Draw bio samples of equipment and systems.
• Clean and disinfect equipment, reusable jugs, and systems.
• Receive and stock delivered supplies.
• Responsible for doping Potassium in acid concentrate jugs.
• Refill jugs with needed dialysis solutions.
• Make packaging and deliver CRRT dialysate bags.
• Conduct 5S zone responsibilities.
• Teach and support other employees and personnel.
• Assist with research projects as needed.
• Monitor and chart the central water system.
• Assist with clinical research projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Certified Dialysis Technician (CDT) through the state of Ohio with no Board Actions
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Three years of prior Intermittent Hemodialysis (IHD) experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)
• Dialysis Technician (DT) experience in a hospital setting

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
• Good manual dexterity sufficient to perform dialysis procedures.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
