Development Chemist I

Our client, a leader in the chemical manufacturing industry, is seeking a Development Chemist I to join their team. As a Development Chemist I, you will be part of the Research & Development department supporting formulation and product development initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Springdale, PA

What's the Job?

• Respond to color match requests and assist with color design work for wood flooring and other building materials.
• Maintain and test new or alternative pigments and raw materials to ensure supply security and reduce production disruptions.
• Design and execute experiments related to raw material testing and formulation improvements.
• Collaborate with sales teams to understand product attributes and build strong relationships with new customers to expand business opportunities.
• Investigate product quality issues, analyze data, and implement corrective actions to improve product performance.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Coatings Science, or Chemical Engineering.
• Prior knowledge of coatings formulation is preferred, with 0-2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of scientific test methods and chemistry/coatings technology.
• Ability to plan and execute experiments independently, with guidance from senior team members.
• Strong communication skills to prepare reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
