Designer
Collaborate with the team to develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and adaptive projects. Work involves developing design ideas and creating both presentation and construction drawings. Responsibilities include drafting technical drawings, overseeing design and drawing for smaller projects, and reviewing engineering and landscape drawings to ensure compliance with design solutions. Additionally, work alongside Senior Designers to research and select fixtures and finishes, ensuring their integration into the overall design. Take part in developing preliminary concept plans for larger projects and finalizing conceptual designs for smaller projects. Oversee Intermediate Designers, tackle complex issues, provide details for interior and architectural design projects, and develop comprehensive design and furniture packages. Assist in developing packages for larger projects, obtain and produce final cost estimates, and manage the design budget for assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and adaptive projects.
- Create presentation and construction drawings.
- Draft technical drawings.

- Research and select fixtures and finishes with Senior Designers.

- Finalize conceptual design for smaller projects.
- Oversee Intermediate Designers and address complicated issues.
- Provide detail for interior and architectural design projects.
- Develop and deliver design and furniture packages.
- Assist in developing packages for larger projects.
- Obtain cost estimates and produce final cost estimates.
- Manage design budget for assigned projects.
Essential Skills
- 6+ years of experience in workplace design focusing on building repositioning, adaptive re-use projects, and corporate interiors.
- Extensive knowledge of design principles, workplace trends, and aesthetics.
- Advanced knowledge of space planning and furniture layout concepts.
- Advanced sketching and rendering skills.
- Advanced architecture detailing skills.
- Knowledge of CDs, building systems, codes, and ADA requirements.
- Working knowledge of path of travel requirements and contract administration.
- Intermediate MS Office Suite skills.
- Advanced Revit skills.
- Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Graduate of architecture or design school or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge of furnishings and finishes.
- Extensive knowledge of repositioning and adaptive re-use presentation skills.
Work Environment
Located in the Loop, right across from Millennium Park/Art Institute, with 22 offices across the US. The work schedule includes three days in the office (Monday and Wednesday are mandatory, with one additional day of choice) and two days working remotely. The office size currently stands at 37 employees, comprising design-focused, technical-focused, and graphic design teams. The main project types include workplace, retail, and hospitality, with a focus on corporate workplace interiors in Chicago. The company offers reimbursement for passed exams for licensure and provides study groups.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/hr.
