Sr. Database Administrator

Our great client in Franklin, WI has an immediate opening for a Sr. Database Administrator. This is a hybrid role that will bring an opportunity to work on both on-premises databases as well as cloud-based technologies.

Partners with information architects, application architects, clients and project teams to develop, maintain and integrate information logical models. This involves designing system solutions, implementing new features, resolving complex incidents and problems, enhancing platform monitoring and alerts, and consultation with application support and development staff. 5 years minimum experience required.

Primary Duties, Requirements & Responsibilities:

• This role requires an agile mindset within a continuous delivery model.
• Ability to work in agile teams by defining and planning work on a team backlog and determining ways for the team to be successful in meeting its outcomes.
• Demonstrate technical leadership within the team.
• Apply engineering standard methodologies to analyze and develop software solutions.
• Experience with on-prem Relational Databases with emphasis Db2-LUW in engineering and DBA capacities.
• Leverages established coding standards, best practices, and automation capabilities to develop solutions to support our users.
• Identify technical problems and develop software solutions and automation capabilities.
• Have the technical skill to adequately review the software code developed in the project.
• Strive for continuous improvement on all aspects within the team and build continuous integration and continuous development pipeline (CI/CD).
• Ability to write and maintain complex Unix shell and Python scripts for maintenance, automation and testing.
• Competency in ITIL processes: Incident, Problem, Knowledge and Change Management. Experience using ServiceNow is preferred.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with AIX Linux operating systems and shell scripting. Comfortable with CLI.
• AWS Certifications Preferred.
• Proficiency in DevOps and Agile principles.
• 5+ years of professional IT experience.
• Experience with AWS Cloud Services (AWS Certified Preferred), and containerized applications and container orchestration.
• Experience with monitoring and performance management/tuning of systems.
• Experience with networking, storage and Linux/AIX operating systems.
• Experience with modern programming and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Experience working with DevOps, CICD, GitOps, Agile methodologies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation and how to apply it with services such as Gitlab CI, Jenkins, CodePipeline, or Circle CI.
• Understanding of certificates, firewalls, vulnerability management, authentication, and authorization.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
• Ability to be self-directed and collaborative in ambiguous situations.
• Problem solver who enjoys learning on the job and thinking outside of the box.
• Strong sense of ownership and the ability to work with limited set of requirements.

Additional Experience Desired:

• Experience working within Atlassian's Jira software for agile based feature and story creation and execution.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud environments including technologies such as Redshift, Elasticache, Iceberg, Athena and Databricks.
• Experience with using Terraform to create new or modify existing AWS cloud-based clusters and nodes.
• Experience using database related products and technologies such as: ELK stack, Dynatrace and Database Brothers Inc. (DBI)
• Experience with using CyberArk and Hashicorp vaulting for personal and other IDs.
• Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience.
• Experience with observability/monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Dynatrace, and Elk stack.
• Experience working with dashboard and reporting technologies such as Grafana and Power BI.
• Knowledge of cloud security platforms such as WIZ.
